A happy blog page!

After the darkness of the last journal spread i wanted to be a little less intense. So, i was inspired by the You Tube videos of Nicoletta Zanella, and did this happy page. Its the first time ive collaged, and as yet, incomplete, but i wanted to put it up because it makes me happy 🙂

Ive used gelatos for the background, and a Stabilo all pencil in brown to outline. Ive yet to put some doors on, and more “stuff” 🙂 i must admit i am enjoying this page!!! 🙂

Gesso and tracing

I was really lucky on Sunday. The rugby was on so Reg watched it, which gave me the perfect opportunity to do some arty stuff 🙂

First of all I gesso’d pages in several journals, so they would all be ready for painting over.
When my journal “brain dump ” was dry I drew an angel inspired by Kelly Rae Roberts’s work.
Gesso – a primer for paper so that it can accept paint onto it, with minimal absorption. 🙂

A couple of gesso’d pages – I believe this is my brain dump one. I did all my journals 🙂
The Angel inspired by Kelly Rae Roberts:
Yes I know it’s not great, but it’s not meant to be perfect. It’s actually called “Embrace Imperfection ” . As yet, it’s not quite finished.

My latest project – art calendar

I am a subscriber of heART Magazine, which is digital. I love it!

Anyway, within that magazine, was a tutorial on calendar journaling. I thought I would have a go as it combines two of my fave things: journaling and diarying. I was really excited to do this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The tutorial was by Kate Crane.
Here’s my version:
First the background:

Then the squares (1.5 inches each, as  cut by my delightful hubby)

Numbered squares and adhered with Matt mod podge 🙂

The squares are different here as there were a few the same all together so I made it more evenly coloured.

I’ll be adding more pictures as I fill this in. I’ve yet to put the month at the top, and attach a picture I stamped and coloured .
Here’s  the link to a tutorial from her blog:http://thekathrynwheel.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/a-year-in-journaling.html

Playing catch up :)

Today was a good day 🙂 we went to the local church and they had a chance to play the organ, so hubby enquired. The next thing I know, he is seated at the organ playing Danny boy!!!! Reg was so excited, he has always wanted to play a church organ. So, that’s a bucket list thing to tick off 🙂

Here’s some pictures of the things I made for a lady called Roxy – they were to thank her for sending me a heart die and other goodies through the post 🙂

The above has a journaling tag that pulls out.
Also, today I received happy mail! Here’s some from Debby. I’m really pleased – I asked how she made a specific tag, so she kindly sent me the ingredients! :
Then finally , I did the inside cover of the travel journal:

The tag says what the idea of the book is. Really enjoyed doing this! Well, that’s it for a Saturday! X

Travel journal cover

I bought the basic journal over a year ago, not sure quite what I’d use it for, but I knew I’d think of something!

I have wanted a travel journal for some time, and I found the basic journal in my stash today, so I started the cover. I’ll mod podge it to protect it tomorrow 🙂 here it is:
The corner protectors were put on with the Main Squeeze (crop a dile 3) and the picture of the couple is some Tim Holtz ephemera 🙂 I hope you like it 🙂
